The Max Weber Programme (MWP) is Europe’s largest postdoctoral programme for young researchers in the social sciences and humanities. It was set up in 2006 by the European University Institute in Florence, where it is also hosted, and is funded by the European Commission (DG Education and Culture).
The MWP is a postdoctoral training programme in the Social and Human Sciences for those who are in the first five years after receiving their doctorate. Each year the Programme appoints about 50 fellows from all over the world for 1 or 2 years in the four disciplines of the EUI, Economics, History and Civilization, Law, and Political and Social Sciences.
The aim of the MWP is to provide Fellows with the experience of membership of a vibrant academic community, to which they make a central contribution. It is unique in offering a structured Programme that not only supports the individual research of Fellows but also helps them develop the various skills they will need in their future academic careers.
