The Constitutionalism and Politics Working Group has the pleasure to invite you to the presentation of the book:
The Burger Court and the Rise of the Judicial Right
On Thursday, 18th of May, 4-6 pm in Sala del Camino, Villa Salviati
Prof. Michael J. Graetz is a leading expert on national and international tax law. His recent scholarship, including his book The Burger Court and the Rise of the Judicial Right (with Linda Greenhouse), Simon & Schuster, 2016, has focused on U.S. legal history and problems around economic inequality. Graetz has written books on federal taxation, including a leading law school text, as well as more than 80 articles on a wide range of tax, international taxation, health policy, and social insurance issues. Currently, he is working (with the political scientist Ian Shapiro) on a book on the political obstacles to addressing increasing inequality and how they might be overcome.
In preparation of the event we recommend reading chapter 10 and 12 of the book. To receive them, please write to [email protected]. We also warmly recommend the interview with Graetz & Greenhouse on the Burger Court
The event will be chaired by: Prof. Gábor Halmai (EUI, Law department)
All members of the EUI are welcome! We hope to see you there!
