European Statistics Day, 20 October 2016

20 October is European Statistics Day. The theme of this year’s initiative is ‘Better Data – Better Lives.’ Statistics Day is organised by the European Statistical Advisory Committee (ESAC) and the European System of Central Banks. A conference of European Statistics Stakeholders organised by Eurostat, the European Central Bank and the ESAC takes place in Budapest on 20 and 21 October. The EUI Library will be represented.
Director-General of Eurostat, Walter Radermacher said: “European Statistics Day aims at raising awareness of European citizens to the importance and value of official statistics for our society.”
On 10 October the European collaborative data infrastructure EUDAT announced that “16 major European research organisations and data centres have signed an agreement to sustain the EUDAT pan European collaborative data infrastructure for the next 10 years.” Full details are here.

Only current EUI members can register for access to EUI-hosted micro data:
◾complete the micro data registration form (selecting the required data set from the drop-down menu) and;
◾sign two conditions of use agreements at the Economics information office (BF085) or at the Economics Departmental Library information desk (Villa La Fonte).
