German National Library of Economics (ZBW) International Conference on Economic and Business Information

Presentations from the International Conference on Economic and Business Information INCONECSS, which took place in Berlin on 19-20 April, are now available online. The event – organised by ZBW – was attended by librarians, information specialists, data professionals and publishers. Thorsten Meyer, Chief Librarian of the ZBW and chair of the conference, summarised the event: “Participants from Singapore to Finland agreed that the management of different stakeholders must assume greater importance in libraries, down to staff level. The needs, work methods and daily routines of researchers and students in economics must not only be known, but must provide the central starting point from which libraries offer their services.”

The conference included a roundtable on trends in economic and business information provision; developments in research data management; licensed data services; open science; current research information systems and Euro-CRIS, and publication models for economic literature.

“INCONECSS aimed to bring together best-practice examples from different countries and to offer a platform for stimulating conversations and discussions. Issues under debate ranged from collection management in the digital age to human resource development to strategic product development to encompass the many ways in which the digitisation of the science system impacts the library world. Networking was a major focus of the event besides the workshops and talks. The invited speakers came from Great Britain, Spain, Italy, France, Denmark, Sweden, Singapore, Austria, the Netherlands and Germany.”
