Impact Challenge: Day 1 – Register your ORCID and connect it to Cadmus
Welcome to the first day of the EUI Impact Challenge! Today we ask you to register your ORCID.
What is ORCID?
Short answer: an ORCID is a unique 16-digit researcher ID number associated with you. The term ORCID also refers to the registry of all such numbers, which makes it possible to unambiguously associate publications, funding, and other information with the correct person.
A bit more info: ORCID is an open, non-profit, community-based effort to create and maintain a registry of unique researcher identifiers and a transparent method of linking research activities and outputs to these identifiers (and therefore to the appropriate person). ORCID provides a standard unique author identifier that distinguishes you from every other researcher, supports automated linkages between you and your professional activities ensuring that your work is recognized.
An ORCID is increasingly requested by publishers, funding agencies, and others that want to ensure that publications, funding, and other forms of scholarly work are accurately associated with, and attributed to, you.
Also, the EUI became institutional supporting member of ORCID in November 2017. In August 2018 the EUI Library integrated ORCID with Cadmus, the EUI Research Repository. This means that, if you want, whenever a publication of yours is uploaded into Cadmus, it appears automatically on your ORCID profile.
Let the world (and us) know that you have an ORCID! Share a post on your social media and tag us!
