Looking for something to read over the summer? The Library's digital collections remain available throughout the summer closure. Explore curated collections of fiction and comics, or browse a wide range of newspapers and magazines wherever you have access to your EUI account. Whether you are travelling or staying in Florence, the digital Library is available whenever you need it.
The EUI Library will be closed from 1 to 16 August 2026 as part of the annual summer closure.
Below you will find information about Library opening hours, borrowing and request services, interlibrary loans, and access to electronic resources. Researchers are encouraged to plan ahead and take note of temporary service interruptions and request deadlines.
Library opening hours
The opening hours for the EUI Library over the August holidays are:
- 1–16 August – Closed
- 17–21 August – 08:30–18:30
- Saturday 22 August – 09:00–18:30
Regular opening hours will resume on Monday, 24 August.
Library services
Book delivery to villas
- The service will be unavailable for the villas from Friday, 31 July, until the reopening of the villas on Monday, 24 August.
- Any holds or interlibrary loans not collected from the villas by 30 July will be automatically transferred to the Badia Library for collection.
- The last day to place a request for collection will be Thursday, 30 July.
Interlibrary loan and document delivery
Interlibrary loan and document delivery services (both print and digital) will be suspended from 22 July to 17 August.
Extended loan period
To support users who will be away during the summer, all loans have been automatically extended until 14 September 2026, except for books with pending requests from other users and ILL books.
Access to electronic resources
While the digital collections will be available all summer, troubleshooting of e-resources will resume on August 17th. If you encounter any issue check the Using e-resources guide.
Opening hours from 17 to 22 August
Please note that during the first week after reopening, from 17 to 22 August, the Library will operate on a reduced schedule and will close at 18:30.
Regular opening hours will resume on Monday, 24 August.
