New European Commission Public Consultation on ‘Science 2.0’ Open until 30 September

The European Commission Launched a Public Consultation on ‘Science 2.0’ on 3 July. The consultation closes on 30 September. Individuals and organisations can participate via this EC web page. “The consultation focuses on how science and research practices are changing in the European Research Area and beyond, in particular on the transition towards open, digital science. It aims to assess stakeholders’ perceptions of the opportunities and challenges of this transition and seeks input on possible policy implications and actions.”

Spring 2014 European Economic Forecast released by European Commission ECFIN

The European Commission (DG ECFIN) launched the spring 2014 European Economic Forecast on 5 May. A synopsis is in this press release. The Commission issued this overview: “The EU economic outlook is strengthening. While leading indicators point to GDP growth gaining momentum in the near term, the conditions for a sustained recovery in the medium term are also improving. Growth is still set to remain moderate, but a gradual easing related to deleveraging, financial fragmentation, adjustment of external imbalances and uncertainty is noticeable.” Full text PDF.
