The 2017 edition of the EUI Library Research Data Guide is now available online. The new 5th edition contains a new section on the (beta) EUI ResData repository and expanded details about data management plans (DMPs) and metadata for datasets. The Research Data Guide covers data discovery; terms and conditions of access and use; data security; research data management; metadata and documentation; data preservation, open data sharing and research data in the EU Horizon 2020 research funding programme. There is also an updated section on qualitative data in the humanities and social sciences. The section on open data provides information on whether, when, how, where and under what terms, research data outputs can be openly shared.
Eurostat has launched a new data access application procedure for micro data. From January 2017, EUI members should use the new Microdata Access Worlkflow Tool – which requires Principal Investigators to register via the EU Login authentication service.
The EUI Researcher – or Principal Investigator in a research team – should create an EU Login for the project application. (It is not necessary for all members of a research team to have a login.)
Zenodo – the open data repository service maintained by CERN – announced the abolition of the 2GB file size limit on 13 September. The repository now accepts files of up to 50GB. The EUI Library has created an EUI data community in Zenodo. EUI members can submit data for inclusion by writing to [email protected]
