Spring 2014 European Economic Forecast released by European Commission ECFIN

The European Commission (DG ECFIN) launched the spring 2014 European Economic Forecast on 5 May. A synopsis is in this press release. The Commission issued this overview: “The EU economic outlook is strengthening. While leading indicators point to GDP growth gaining momentum in the near term, the conditions for a sustained recovery in the medium term are also improving. Growth is still set to remain moderate, but a gradual easing related to deleveraging, financial fragmentation, adjustment of external imbalances and uncertainty is noticeable.” Full text PDF.

Library data management support for EUI Horizon 2020 project funding applicants

Horizon 2020 is the EU Research & Innovation funding programme, 2014-2020. EUI members who are preparing applications for Horizon 2020 funding will be required to submit general information on data management as part of their proposal. This will be evaluated by the EC under the criterion ‘impact.’ Social science and economic research projects are included in the ‘Societal Challenges’ cluster. New EU Open Data Portal – European Commission seeks feedback from data users

The European Commission has launched an Open Data Portal (beta) with partners Eurostat, the EC Joint Research Centre, DG Industry and other EU institutions. The thematic and institutional list of datasets is on this page. The Commission invites feedback on this resource.
