Upgraded EUI Library Banking Data Platform launched on 10 November: S&P Global Market Intelligence

The EUI Library now provides access to the upgraded and re-branded Standard & Poor’s Global Market Intelligence data platform (replacing SNL Financial). This is the EUI’s premier resource for banking sector data. Preëxisting EUI usernames and passwords, profile settings, and alerts do not need to be changed. S&P Global Market Intelligence provides data on financial markets, banks and financial institutions worldwide. Coverage of the global banking sector includes financial statements, ownership information, market analysis, filings, mergers and acquisitions’ information and sectoral news. ctd…

EUI Library launches access to Banking Data from S&P’s SNL Financial

SNL Financial provides data on approximately 29,000 banking institutions worldwide. Ownership information; financial statements; market analysis; filings; maps of bank locations; mergers and acquisitions information; and financial sector news and alerts are provided. An Excel add-in can be used for the selection and elaboration of data variables, geographical coverage and time series. SNL Financial is published by Standard and Poors.

Methodological Note on 2016 EU Banking Sector Stress Tests published by European Banking Authority

The European Banking Authority published a Methodological Note on the 2016 EU banking sector stress tests and asset review on 24 February. The note covers credit risk; market risk, counterparty credit risk (CCR) and credit value adjustment (CVA); conduct risk and other operational risks; and non-interest income, expenses and capital. There are four tabular annexes: a list of banks in the sample; stress test template overview; summary of qualitative information to be provided by banks; and a summary of key constraints and other quantitative requirements. The EBA Methodological Note has been linked from the EUI Library ECB data resource page. EUI members have access to the Bankscope (BvD) global public and private banking sector database.

New Release of ECRI data on household lending available via Library Data Portal from 20 January

The new wave of European Credit Research Institute (ECRI) data on international lending to households is now available to EUI members. The database has been expanded with the addition of Indian and Russian country data. ECRI data now includes observations from the 28 EU member states; 4 EFTA countries (Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland); 2 EU candidate countries (Macedonia and Turkey) and 6 other countries (Australia, Canada, India, Japan, Russia and the USA). EUI Library issues 33rd edition ‘Bibliography of the Global Financial Crisis’ on 14 January

The 33rd edition of the EUI Library Bibliography of the Global Financial & Economic Crisis was issued on 14 January. All works are available in the Library. 38 new titles have been added since the September edition. Full publication details with shelfmarks, are in the Catalogue. The Library also maintains a Eurozone Information Directory with a bibliography on European Monetary Union. The Library welcomes suggestions for new acquisitions. European Banking Authority releases stress test data on 105 banks in 21 countries

The European Banking Authority, released data from the 2015 EU-wide transparency exercise on 27 November. The exercise “provides detailed bank-by-bank data on capital positions, risk exposure amounts and asset quality on 105 banks from 21 countries of the European Union (EU) and the European Economic Area (EEA)… The data is published at the highest level of consolidation, covering around 70% of total EU banking assets for the reference dates of 31 December 2014 and 30 June 2015.” The EUI Library maintains a Directory of Eurozone, EU and European Statistical Data.
