New Data USA (beta) visualisation site for public government data launched on 4 April

The beta version of Data USA “the most comprehensive website and visualization engine of public US Government data” was launched on 4 April. Data USA is developed by MIT Professor Cesar Hidalgo, Deloitte and Datawheel. A team of data visualisation specialists, economists, data experts, government officials and public user communities developed Data USA. “The visualizations in Data USA are powered by D3plus, an open-source visualization engine.” Access to international macro and micro data for EUI members is via the Library Data Portal.

eBook Collection in Economics Expanded

The EUI Library has expanded access to eBooks in Economics and Statistical Theory with the addition of 30 core course texts from MIT Press. The full list of eBooks for EUI Economics Departmental courses is on this Library page. The MIT course texts are available (EUI members only) via the EBSCO eBook platform. Paper copies are available at the Badia Library and the Departmental Library. New title list and direct Catalogue links.

MIT-Harvard Atlas of Economic Complexity online and paper versions for development research

The Observatory of Economic Complexity – a joint initiative of the MIT Media Lab and the Harvard Center for International Development – has issued the 2014 Atlas of Economic Complexity providing global trade and development data, network graphics and data visualisations.
