Upgrade of EUI Data Portal

The EUI Library Data Portal was upgraded with a new tabular structure and two new resource guides on 12 September. The Data Portal is a one-stop index to licensed and open data resources for economic, social, political economic and economic historical research.

The Portal was presented at the Badia Fiesolana, on Tuesday, 13 September. EUI members who would like to receive the PPT should write to [email protected]

Joint Research Centre data catalogue launched by the European Commission on 15 March

The EC’s science-for-policy Joint Research Centre launched a beta JRC Data Catalogue on 15 March. The data catalogue constitutes a growing inventory of data generated by the JRC and scientific partners. The JRC is the EC’s science service “which employs scientists to carry out research in order to provide independent scientific advice and support to EU policy.” JRC Data Catalogue metadata is gradually becoming inter-operable with the recently-launched European Data Portal which provides access to 415,000 datasets harvested from 70 data catalogues in 34 European countries. New Budget and Economic Data Portal launched by U.S. Congressional Budget Office

The U.S. Congressional Budget Office, launched a new budget and economic data portal on 1 February. The new resource provides a one-stop entry-point to the CBO’s key budget and economic projections. Founded in 1975, the CBO produces “independent analyses of budgetary and economic issues to support the Congressional budget process.” The new online resource provides links to core budget data and supplemental material, including Excel spreadsheets of economic projections and the CBO Long-Term Budget Outlook report. EUI members can access macroeconomic statistical data via the Data Portal.

ZBW EconStor Repository Reaches 100,000 Full-texts in Scholarly Economics and Business Literature

The German National Library of Economics EconStor repository – which harvests more than 90% of all German economics and business working papers and OA journal articles – reached a total of 100,000 full-text documents in October. Content is included in the EconBiz portal, which provides access to approximately one million full-text items and eight million bibliographical records in German, English and other languages. ZBW added French and Spanish interface options to the portal in September. Full details.

New UNESCO Online Data Centre (beta)

The UNESCO Institute for Statistics has launched a new online Data Centre (beta) providing enhanced analysis tools for global data on education, science and culture. Enhanced tables, graphs and maps can be generated on the new platform. The UNESCO data centre also contains “updated country and regional profiles, global rankings and other interactive tools.” Other UN data resources are accessible via this Library page.

New EU Open Data Portal – European Commission seeks feedback from data users

The European Commission has launched an Open Data Portal (beta) with partners Eurostat, the EC Joint Research Centre, DG Industry and other EU institutions. The thematic and institutional list of datasets is on this page. The Commission invites feedback on this resource.
