50th EUI Research Dataset Added to the Research Data Collection in Cadmus

On the 6th of July, the 50th EUI research dataset was added to the multi-disciplinary Research Data Collection in the Cadmus repository. The EUI Research Data Collection is an infrastructure for the preservation of EUI research data outputs; a platform for sharing research data; and a solution for funder-mandated research data management compliance (eg. EU Horizon Europe / ERC).  To submit a dataset for reposit – please complete this online form. The EUI Library offers specialist support regarding (i) data protection (ii) database copyright and (iii) advice on metadata, file-naming, format, structure, and whether data should be archived under embargo, or made available as open data.  An overview of EUI research data support is in the 2022 Library Research Data Guide. Only EUI-generated datasets can be included in the EUI Research Data Collection. [ctd.]

The New EUI Data Repository: a solution for archiving and sharing research data

The new EUI ResData repository was launched at the Library’s open access roundtable in October 2017 and already hosts twelve substantial EUI research datasets. ResData provides EUI scholars with a sustainable solution for archiving research datasets, and supports the European Union’s mandate that – where possible – research data outputs be openly shared. Open data – a key pillar of open science – refers to the trend among scholars, government agencies and international organisations to share datasets, codebooks and software via the internet.

Research Data Management in Italy

The Research Data Alliance (Europe) hosts a two-day workshop on research data management and open data on 14-15 November. Sessions are live-streamed from the Università di Firenze. The workshop is organised in collaboration with the universities of Bologna, Milano, Parma, Torino and Trento with the support of the Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche, Associazione italiana per la promozione della scienza aperta and OpenAIRE. The workshop brings together researchers, data managers and librarians to share experiences regarding the discovery, management, elaboration, re-use, and reproducibility of research data. The EUI Library is represented at the workshop.

2015 edition of Library Research Data Guide

The new 3rd edition of the EUI Research Data Guide is now available online. The Guide provides information on research data management, including data discovery; terms and conditions of access and use; data security; dataset metadata and documentation; data repositing, preservation and open data sharing. This third edition contains expanded details about data management plans (DMPs), data management in the EU Horizon 2020 research funding programme, and options for open data sharing. The guide also addresses data sharing, focusing on whether, when, how, where and under what terms, research data outputs can be openly shared. Please contact the Library to arrange a research data appointment.
