2016 British Social Attitudes report with data, published on 30 June

The 33rd British Social Attitudes report was published by NatCen Social Research, London, on 30 June. The BSA Data Portal provides public opinion data on social change from 1983 to 2016, with observations on social class, welfare, work, healthcare and politics. The 2016 BSA report is edited by John Curtice, Miranda Phillips and Elizabeth Clery. Previous reports are available in the online archive.

G-SOEP data survey open until 14 November

The German Institute for Economic Research – Deutsches Institut für Wirtschaftsforschung – has launched the 2014 German Socio-Economic Panel (G-SOEP) survey. This year, DIW is “particularly interested in your assessment of our new metadata portal, SOEPinfo v.2.” For details of access to the data at the EUI, please visit this Library page. The German Socio-Economic Panel is a longitudinal survey of approximately 11,000 private households in the Federal Republic of Germany from 1984 to 2013, and eastern German länder from 1990 to 2013. The results of the 2014 user survey will be published in the DIW newsletter. The closing date is 14 November.

European Social Survey round 8: call for multi-national academic research teams

In preparation for the new round of the European Social Survey, academic research teams can apply to design ESS questionnaire modules. Full details are on this ESS page. “Two academically-led teams will be selected, each of which will be awarded a module of up to 30 items.” The EUI Library maintains resource pages for ESS and other international surveys including Eurobarometer; European Values Study, and World Values Survey.

Library Research Data Survey: overview of results, and special thanks to all participants

The EUI Library released an overview of results of the 2013 Research Data Survey on 13 December. Our thanks to all who participated. The survey will help the Library develop its collections, and provide further services in the quickly-changing field of open data. EUI Research Data Services are explained on this Library page. EUI Library Launches Research Data Survey. Closing date: 30 November

The First EUI Research Data Survey has been launched. Professors, Researchers and Fellows have received the survey link by e-mail. We are interested in which kinds of data are being used at the EUI, and which kinds of data are being generated – both by individual researchers and teams. If you are part of a research team – please ask your project leader to also complete the survey. The closing date is 30 November. Thank you for participating!
