The Consortium of European Social Science Data Archives (CESSDA) has launched an updated version of the online European Language Social Science Thesaurus. ELSST facilitates the translation of social science data terms in 12 languages: Danish, Czech, English, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Lithuanian, Norwegian, Romanian, Spanish, and Swedish. The search tool at the upper right of the ELSST homepage allows users to retrieve translations of terms such as ‘probability theory’, ‘labour force’ &c.
The UK Data Service launched a new Newsletter on 28 October, providing “a quarterly round-up of latest news, features, data releases, forthcoming data and events.” The Autumn 2015 edition describes new UKDS web features, updates from the Young Lives project, data platform ICT developments, a new survey data guide and an overview of the Discover data search engine. The UK Data Service and archive, is a large-scale repository of social science and economic data. The Institute for Social and Economic Research has launched a new website for the UK household study Understanding Society. The study covers 40,000 households with observations on all aspects of life in the UK. Understanding Society is a continuation and enlargement of the British Household Panel Survey.
