Kathleen Thelen

Kathleen Thelen is Ford Professor of Political Science at MIT and Permanent External Scientific Member of the Max Planck Institute for the Study of Societies. She studies the origin, development, and effects of institutional arrangements that define distinctive “varieties of capitalism” across the developed democracies, and is the author of How Institutions Evolve: The Political Economy of Skills in Germany, Britain, The United States and Japan

She will give a lecture entitled “Varieties of Capitalism: Trajectories of Liberalization and the New Politics of Social Solidarity”
