The EUI Refugee Initiative outside the EUI
Last year the EUI Refugee Initiative participated in various activities and movements in order to broaden the outreach of ideas and approaches of successful integration. We partook in putting together the White Paper on the Politics of Hospitality for Asylum Seekers and Refugees drawn up by the Region of Tuscany (the initiative’s hashtag: #AccoglienzaToscana). Here our participation in the working group on language training and education was doubly valuable: we encountered the many other realities in Tuscany and were able to share our practices. Additionally, the attention from the City Council of Fiesole, the EUI and the Region has given our project of hospitality the chance to be included in their Open Toscana dataset of 120 best practices of regional hospitality. The EUI Refugee Initiative has also been included in the Refugees Welcome Map of the European University Association (EUA) and Unimed which is part of the project inHERE – Higher Education Supporting Refugees in Europe. Lastly, we presented our project at the event “The crisis of refugees and the role of universities” held at La Sapienza (Rome) on 18th October.
