First visit of the AMIR Project
The EUI Refugee Initiative participated in the first visit of the AMIR project – hospitality, museums, inclusion and relationships (progetto AMIR – accoglienza, musei, inclusione e relazione). This project is a series of activities and free visits to museums, addressed to migrants and the community of foreigners living in the area. It is supported by the Regione Toscana, the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Firenze, the Museums of Fiesole, the Fondazione Primo Conti, and the Florentine Civic Museums with MUS.E, Museo degli Innocenti, and the museum complex Santa Maria del Fiore with “Stazione Utopia”. The project aims to train migrants to support and accompany the staff in the museums’ educational departments. The idea is for them to act as “ambassadors” of the museums for both Italians and other foreign visitors. The EUI Refugee Initiative’s first enthusiastic visit took us to the Civic Archaeological Museum and Archaeological Area of Fiesole.
