Our Guests

In continuity with previous projects focusing on the reception of asylum seekers from Africa, the EUI Refugee Initiative (EUIRI) has recently responded to the crisis in Afghanistan, as well as to the need of increasing refugee students’ access to higher education. Since September 2021, thus, the EUI has been hosting new guests within its community: a young woman and a family with two children from Afghanistan, as well as two refugee students benefitting of scholarship for the EUI’s Master in Transnational Governance (MTnG) in the framework of the Project “University Corridors for Refugees” (UNICORE).

Such initiatives are embedded in the values and mission of the EUI, as an international academic institution aiming at inclusion, diversity and support to access to qualitative higher education for all. The EUI works closely with local, national and international partners in the implementation of its reception initiative.

Our local partners are the Diocese of Fiesole and Caritas Firenze. At the national level, in the context of the UNICORE, we cooperate with the following partners, Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, 23 Italian Universities, Caritas Italia, Diaconia Valdese, Ghandi Charity and Centro Anstalli. Our international partner is United Nations High Commissioner for Refugee. They are all fundamental in pursuing our commitment to host and provide asylum seekers and refugees with a home and assistance, whilst supporting our guests in shaping their future in Italy or anywhere else.

Donations are also important for the implementation of EUIRI, ensuring that we can timely meet all the needs of our gusts.

If you want to be part of this, please make a contribution to EUIRI visiting the following page: “Donate”.
