DISCUSSION SERIES ‘TALKING ABOUT THINGS’

A- A A+

The Visual and Material History Working Group is delighted to announce their new discussion series “Talking about Things”. Focusing on thematic questions, the aim of these discussion sessions is to bridge the gap between material and visual culture and other areas of historical study. In other words, it seeks to bring together researchers who examine visual and material culture in their work but also those who would like to incorporate any of these approaches or are even simply curious about what it means to engage with visual and material culture. We imagine this new platform as an informal space where participants are encouraged to share their projects, questions and ideas related to material and visual culture.

Each of the sessions will focus on a specific theme that can be interpreted in a broad sense. Participants will have the opportunity to present a theoretical reflection based on an article and/or a piece of their research and/or a specific object in connection to the theme. We hope that these short and informal presentations will spark numerous questions and a lively discussion amongst those attending. Those researchers who do not wish to present are still very welcome to attend.
