INTERIORS AND EXTERIORS IN VISUAL AND MATERIAL HISTORY

A- A A+

On 21 November 2019

Meet & Discuss Session

The discussion is introduced and moderated by Iseabail Rowe.

Researchers from all areas, years and time-periods of history are encouraged to attend this informal working group discussion and to bring along an example of visual or material culture you have come across that fits under this broad theme.

Perhaps it could be an image that displays interiors or exteriors, a particular object that could be used in one or both of these contexts, an item of clothing that was adapted for indoor or outdoor wear, a decoration that holds specific meaning to the room in which it is placed, or a building that defies the categorisation of interior or exterior? All ideas, arguments, examples and questions are welcome!

Similarly, as usual if you are interested in the theme, or hope to be inspired as to how you could engage with visual and material history in your own work, then still feel free to come along simply to listen and discuss even if you are unable to bring along an example of your own.
