Museum Visit: Galleria dell’Accademia

Museum Visit: Galleria dell’Accademia
Reading time: 2 min.

On Tuesday 15th October at 19 :00 you get a chance to discover our incredible Visual and Material History Working Group! You will visit the Galleria dell’Accademia and explore with us some of the key questions that our working group tackles.

The Galleria encapsulates many research topics, far beyond art, which can enrich your own research ideas. We will consider together various questions such as the creation of beauty standards; the spoliation of artworks during the Napoleonic era; the making of the masterpieces; the early modern phenomenon of ‘collectionism’ and what it implied in terms of gathering and preservation; or even the Florence’s legacy to the pop culture. Isn’t it thrilling?

The museum is free to visit for those with an EUI card and closes at 22:00 on Tuesdays so we propose to have drink afterwards in a bar nearby and to get to know each other outside of the EUI.

We will meet at the museum itself at 19:00 on the dot. You can buy your free ticket online or a few minutes before we start at the ticket office (which is not at the museum’s entrance but on the other side of the street).
