Financial Support

The SPS Summer Academy offers two types of financial support to help students cover their travel and accommodation costs. The first is available for students from Widening countries, the other for students in financial need from all over Europe.

  • Students studying in universities located in the following Widening countries are eligible for the reimbursement of their travel and accommodation costs of up to a maximum of 800 euros:
    • In the European Union: Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Greece, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, and Slovenia.
    • Outside the European Union: Albania, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia, Moldova, and Ukraine.
    • This financial support is sponsored by the EUI Widening Programme. This initiative, backed by contributions from the European Union and EUI Contracting States, is designed to strengthen internationalisation, competitiveness, and quality in research in the so-called Widening countries, and thus foster a more cohesive European Higher Education and Research area.
  • Students who study in universities located in other countries in Europe and who are in financial need are eligible for the reimbursement of their travel and accommodation costs of up to a maximum of 600 euros.
    • To benefit from the funding, students have to submit a one-page explanation of their financial situation as part of their application.
    • Please note that the number of grants is limited. They will be attributed based on both need and academic merit.
