Gøsta Esping-Andersen – Research Professor at the Bocconi University in Milan
His work primary focused on the welfare state and its place in capital economies, and he wrote his major and most influential book on it, titled “The Three Worlds of Welfare Capitalism”. His research has now moved and focuses on two themes : family demography and how women’s changing roles influence family dynamics, and social stratification and intergenerational social mobility.
He has taught in Harvard, the Pompeu Fabra University and he is now a research professor at the Bocconi University, in Milan. He has been elected member of the British Academy and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. He has also been awarded the doctor honoris causa award from University of Copenhagen, Roskilde and Oslo.
