Grappling with things: Mission Preparation

A- A A+

The EUI Visual and Material History Working Group hosts its annual workshop tailored to first year researchers to introduce approaches for working with visual and material sources in research.

Are you wondering how to approach visual and material sources in your upcoming mission and research? How do you begin to write about them? This workshop aims to provide you with an object questionnaire and a small bibliography to allow you to start working with any source material you will encounter.

The workshop will be centred around an informal discussion regarding the inclusion of such sources within your research: how to find and analyse visual and material evidence and have an adequate storage system.

We will discuss the UN photo archives, the british museum collections online and the application Tropy.

We invite you to bring an image of a visual source or an object that you could discuss, or any questions you have about grappling with things.
